The Student Experience and Engagement Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all undergraduate students feel included, supported, and connected throughout their journey.

As Manager, you will lead a team of Student Experience Officers, providing strategic and operational leadership and direction. You will bring insight from the higher education sector and ensure high levels of expertise in student engagement and support, helping us maintain our reputation for excellence.

It is essential that our ideal candidate will bring experience from a higher education setting in a role focused on supporting and enhancing the student experience. We place strong value on inclusive approaches to student learning and development, and on embedding the student voice in everything we do, so expertise in these areas are sought.

As the Manager of a busy and dynamic team, you will need to demonstrate confident leadership and the interpersonal skills to influence, motivate, and support others. Just as importantly, you will bring high levels of empathy and understanding, ensuring that both students and colleagues feel heard, valued, and supported.

About you:

  • You will have a strong understanding of university quality assurance policies and understand the significance of them.
  • Be culturally sensitive, with experience supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate excellent working knowledge and application of IT and digital technologies, including a proven ability to manipulate, analyse, and present data.
  • Be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
  • Effectively organise a busy workload and prioritise tasks to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Be innovative and creative in your thinking, with a keenness to develop ideas into initiatives that continually enhance the student experience.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a recently launched research institute at the Íøºì±¬ÁÏ, led by co-directors Professor Laura GE Smith and Professor Adam Joinson. The is based in a large, shared office in the School of Management's impressive new building, although institute members, over fifty academic staff, postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate research students, are spread across three faculties. 

Through taking a “whole of society” approach to understanding the challenges and opportunities associated with digital technologies we hope to help make the UK a more innovative, safe and resilient digital society, develop the next generation of experts in digital security and behaviour, and advance the UK as a global leader in this domain.

This role will lead on engagement and communication activities under the guidance of the manager and the leadership team. You will co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the Institute and support the leadership team in delivering our strategic aims. The role will be busy, wide-ranging, challenging and exciting.

About you:

  • Do you have excellent communication, team working and event management skills?
  • Are you comfortable and credible operating within higher education, industry, governmental and public sector environments?
  • Are you a proactive problem-solver?
  • Are you able to work independently using your own judgement and creativity to resolve complex problems

An interest and knowledge of the digital security sector and challenges would be beneficial.
